The New Berry Red.

nyx alabama lipstick matte review swatches
I've said it before, I love the classic berry red. In fact, if I had to only wear one shade of lipstick forever, it would be that exact shade. Thankfully though, that is just a hypothetical scenario, thus I will always love to explore more different shades and undertones and this lipstick represents just that: a unique shade that I've hardly come across.

As mentioned in my previous NYX post, the brand continuously receives well-deserved praise, and since it's drugstore, I feel compelled to try them out more often! I've heard great things about their lip products including their Matte Lipstick range and so I delved into their options and landed with the shade Alabama.
As I said, this is not an ordinary berry shade due to its undertones. It contains a brick/mahogany undertone, making it a little more orangey/brown (sounds complicated haha!). For comparison, it reminds me a lot of Ofra Cosmetics x Kathleen Lights' Havana Lights or Kat Von D's Nahz Fur Atoo- both about double the price of this one!

The quality is amazing; opaque, pigmented, and long lasting. My only gripe is the scent where it smells quite manufactured (aka chemicals), but I'm personally willing to look past that. All in all, it's a beautiful shade that represents a very unique shade among my collection. I highly recommend!

Have you tried any NYX products? What is your favourite?
