How to Transition Your Makeup Into Autumn.

It's that time of year where all you hear in the beauty and fashion world is the word "transitioning". Such a word makes sense as the time between summer and the beginning of autumn can be an awkward one as the weather often fluctuates between chilly and warm, so it can be difficult to slowly transition into autumn styles. Autumn makeup is often associated with the deep, berry shades (although I am currently loving other styles which I'll be blogging about soon!), so it makes sense that the transitional stage would be a softer version of typical autumnal makeup. So, toning down the deep berries into lighter rosy/dusky/mauve tones is my favourite way of transitioning my makeup into autumn.

That way, the suggestion of autumn is there, but in a subtle way as you incorporate lighter tones than the typical autumn shades. It keeps the eyes looking fresh and light, but with a nod to the autumnal shade spectrum.

Blush. Berry blushes are my favourite for this time of year, especially as it compliments those autumnal deep vampy lipstick shades so well. At the transitional period, instead of going for a deep plum on the cheeks, opting for a light lavender or cool-toned baby pink like the Clinique Cheek Pop in "Pansy Pop" is a pretty substitute that again links to the typical autumn colour family, but in a fresher and lighter way.

Lips. Autumn is the perfect time to begin using those deep vampy lip shades, but it's still currently not that time wear I feel super fall inspired as the weather is still quite unpredictable (the leaves haven't even changed colours yet!). So instead of deep berry shades right now, I've been using a less deep alternative that is more mauve and dusky such as the Revlon "Sultry" Matte Balm: still within the plum tonal family, but much softer.

Nails. Autumn nails always makes me think of deep wine-red/maroon which is such a classic shade. However, during this transitional period into autumn, I love going for a - you guessed it - dusky and mauve shade like Essie "Eternal Optimist". It's like a neutral shade as it is not too deep or too light, but still integrates that plum hue, reminiscent of autumn.
