As spring transitions from the frigid and skin drenching weather towards warmer temperatures, our skin can experience a flurry of negative effects, calling for some relief. Unfortunately, precisely because spring is a transition season, skincare can often be neglected and overlooked. To share with you some tips for springtime skincare, I've teamed up with Dollar Shave Club and participated in their effort to spread awareness of the topic of skincare. 1. Dry Skin Relief
Dry skin is usually at its height during the colder months, but as the season transitions towards warmer weather, our skin can show telltale signs of the aftermath and prove itself to be at its most vulnerable. Dry skin in the spring can also be especially shown as soon as the razors are brought out -yes, it's shaving season! I personally suffer from shaving burns and irritations because of my dry skin which can become quite painful and even sting. I usually use baby oil before and after shaving to create a lubricated base and finish. Also, for hydration, The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Day Cream is a year-round skincare essential for me; either for makeup as a base or just a regular day cream, this one never lets me down when my face requires that much needed moisture.
2. Sensitive Skin
As the weather gets warmer, our skin, especially at the inner joints, can lock in the excessive moisture in the air, causing irritation, redness and even eczema. To provide relief for the irritated skin, I recommend the Compliments Hydrocortisone Cream which soothes itchiness and redness.
3. Sun Protection
Of course, warmer weather means even extra precaution from the sun as we begin to expose ourself in it more frequently in the spring. Sunscreen and SPF are obviously vital, however, it is important to realize that normal sunscreens can actually be quite harmful due to some detrimental ingredients that are quite common in most sunscreens. So, I personally use a healthier alternative: Badger: SPF 30 Unscented Sunscreen.
