Bittersweet: Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream

As much as I love makeup, I try to be quite careful when it comes to maintaining variety in my makeup collection. I am definitely the type of person that prefers not to have two of very similar items, whether that be for makeup, clothes, etc.. So, when it comes to lips, I try as much as I can to have as many diverse and unique shades in my collection. Having said that, once I saw this shade of the Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream in "Bittersweet", I knew it would have a special place in my lipstick collection as I had no colour even close to it; and not only that, but this was also my very first actual liquid lipstick! I recently did a blog post on the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette that I ordered from Feel Unique, and since Canada doesn't carry the brand, I thought I would take advantage of the opportunity and also pick up a product from their latest Matte Me Lip Cream range.

Basically, it's a dupe for Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade "Lolita II" - a very unique and sought after colour indeed. This shade is among the 6 new additions to the Matte Me range which consists of a total of 11 shades, contained on a rather autumnal and plummy colour spectrum along with a few pinky nudes and the standout hot pink.

The product is titled as a lip cream, but is described as a liquid lipstick that is meant to be light and comfortable. I can tell you that it is indeed very comfortable; so much so that I forget that I am actually wearing it, unlike any ordinary lipstick that I wear. Of course, it is a bit drying, but what I love is that it is very forgiving as it does not emphasize any dryness and does not produce any flakiness. Also, it is quite long-lasting, however I would not say that it is 100% transfer-proof as it does stain my cup when I drink, albeit only a little. I would recommend only using one coat and not dipping the doe-foot wand in for a second time, as when I first did this, the colour came much darker than what it was supposed to be. Thus, it is not necessary to double-coat; simply distribute the pigment across your lips with one application.

All in all, I absolutely love this product. Having used two Sleek products so far, I believe I can confidently say that I am very impressed with the brand and I now understand the attention it receives. What do you think of this product or brand?
