More than the Berry Red: Fall Lip Picks.

autumn winter lipstick review mac revlon marc jacobs loreal rimmel kate
Technically, it's not autumn yet, but we all know that once it hits September, it may as well be, regardless of the the weather. For beauty lovers especially, autumn automatically brings us to update our makeup looks, particularly our lipsticks. Despite the trends that come and go, the berry red is always a timeless component to autumn makeup. As much as I love the shade (it's actually my all time, year-round favourite shade to wear), I also love variety, so here are my autumn lip picks that are contained on a rather diverse spectrum including reds, plums, and purples, yet still very representative of that autumn lip look that we all know and love.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss — 107. I might as well start off with the classic berry red, particularly this drugstore cult favourite. I adore the entire range, and this shade is undoubtedly my favourite (this is my second purchase!). In fact, this is my all-time favourite lipstick in my entire collection; it's my go-to, my evening, my daytime, year-round lipstick. Of course, the shade is also especially perfect for the autumn/winter season due to its deep red colour with its slight purple undertone, giving it its berry goodness. It's also a matte shade, thereby offering a perfectly opaque finish to the lips.

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm — 225 Sultry. Perfect for the nude lip lovers who want to maintain the neutral tint, yet want to opt for something deeper for the autumn season, this shade is a deep plumy brown that compliments almost every makeup look. It's a dark one, but very wearable that I believe suits every skin tone. This range of lipsticks is also one of my favourite drugstore collections which I own many shades from; its highly comfortable matte formula is very creamy, hence the "balm" label.

L'Oréal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Stick — 108 Matte-r of Fact. Another extremely beautiful velvety and creamy formula, this specific shade provides a different rendition to the autumn lip look, due to its purple hue which is another one of my most favourite all-time lip colours. The purple colour family is a great alternative for autumn as it does not disguise itself with the typical red hue.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick — 216 Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. If berries and purples are not your thing and instead prefer more pinky tones, this shade is the perfect autumnal version of just that due to its plumy rose shade. Also, if you're wary of mattes, this formula is a satin finish and offers a beautiful opaque application.

MAC Cosmetics Lipstick — Party Line. This cremesheen lipstick is described as a "red-toned plum" which I feel is perfectly representative of autumn, yet is still different from the typical berry red as it leans more towards a chestnut/brick red undertone.

MAC Cosmetics Lipstick — Sin. Finally, this matte lipstick is one for those who enjoy braving the very dark shades. Described as a "deep dark blue red", this deep burgundy shade provides a dramatic and intense dark lip, but still remains wearable due to its red undertones. It's definitely a favourite, yet normally finds itself reserved for the autumn/winter season for me.

So, these are my fall/winter lip picks that I hope has offered additional options for you other than just the typical berry red. What are your favourite autumn lipstick shades? Please share your recommendations!

  2. I know about Sin, Diva, and Rebel from MAC, but this is the first time I heard about Party Line. Personally, I'm a fan of their cremesheen finish (and Amplified), so I'm glad to know they have this color in their finish.
