When it comes to makeup, I'm not one to usually incline towards luxury or designer makeup. Instead, I find that drugstore and the typical Sephora brands suffice to satisfy my preferences and needs. In fact, I sometimes feel that luxury makeup items actually pale in comparison to those with lower price tags and I often myself feeling disappointed in their quality. So, here I spotlight three different makeup products from three different luxury brands with my thoughts on their quality and whether or not they're worth their high cost.

Dior. Dior is probably my "go-to" luxury makeup brand given their beautiful products and packagin. In my collection I have two of their eyeshadow palettes* from their limited edition collection a few autumns back. These 5-pan palettes, however, are constantly released with various colour-ways so there's always something available in their collection. Now, I feel that Dior palettes aren't meant to be super pigmented given their whole "chic and simple" mantra that the brand seems to exude. I do adore the palettes especially for when I want to opt for a simple elegant wash of neutral colour on the lid, but they don't suffice for when I want a more complete and bold look. If you're the type to usually stick to one simple eyeshadow palette, then I do think it would be special to invest in a Dior palette.
Givenchy. A designer mascara is not something I would ever purchase on my own, given my loyalty to drugstore mascaras (especially the L'Oréal Lash Paradise*!). The drugstore houses a plethora of amazing mascaras that it negates the need for any higher end mascara - and this Givenchy Noir Interdit* mascara hasn't changed my stance on this matter. First off, the mascara contains a very potent rose water scent (not my favourite) that you can smell throughout the day. Also, the actual mascara doesn't really do much for me: it doesn't thicken, lengthen, or even darken my lashes much. Plus, the 90-degree angle brush wand is just too gimmick-y. Overall, this is a case of: "you're just buying the brand name, not the quality".
