5 Hyped-Up Makeup Products You Do & Don't Need.

We live in a consumer-based society and the whole blogger/YouTuber thing isn't really helping, is it? I mean, I'm honestly not complaining - I love discovering and shopping for makeup and often have found my all-time favourite products through recommendations of those bloggers and vloggers. Sometimes, however, some products simply don't work for you the way they work for others and that's okay. It's why I find it useful for posts like these to review hyped-up products where we can all share our similar or different thoughts on them!

Glossier Haloscope. Ah, Glossier, the dream millenial brand that has taken this generation by storm. The Haloscope (shade: "Quartz" - a transparent champagne tone) specifically has been especially raved about: a glossy, dewy, glowy cream highlighter stick for that "is it sweat or is it a natural glow?" look. Is it worth the hype? I'd say yes more than no. The only slight fault I have with this product is that it's not very creamy or emoliant, rather it's a bit dry, however, this can be an advantage as it means it's more long lasting than a slippery thin formula. Overall, this is worth the hype.   Mac Lipstick. Most beauty lovers probably have at least one Mac lipstick owing to the classic prestige simply due to it being one of the first higher-end lipsticks in the beauty world. This is my only Mac lipstick which is in the shade "Sin" (a deep vampy shade) in a matte finish. It's a dry formula and tugs on my lips upon applying and is patchy on the lips. Perhaps the other shades may be smoother as this is a dark matte shade, however, I've found much better lipstick formulas that deserve a greater hype.

Stila Magnificent Metals. This is one of the newer popular products that have been unrelentingly hyped over - and man, is it good! This is probably one of my most prized products in my collection. It's a liquid metallic/glitter eyshadow that you apply onto your lids with ease - minimal fall out, long lasting, and amazing impact. I love applying just a little for a subtle scattered glitter look, or give a hard swipe on the lids for an opaque metallic finish.

Glossier Haloscope. Ah, Glossier, the dream millenial brand that has taken this generation by storm. The Haloscope (shade: "Quartz" - a transparent champagne tone) specifically has been especially raved about: a glossy, dewy, glowy cream highlighter stick for that coveted is-it-sweat-or-is-it-a-natural-glow? look. Is it worth the hype? I'd say yes more than no. The only slight fault I have with this product is that it's not very creamy or emoliant, rather it's a bit dry, however, this can be an advantage as it means it's more long lasting than a slippery thin formula. Overall, this is worth the hype.

Mac Fix+. Another Mac product! This is obviously one of the original makeup products that has stood the test of time, being constantly raved about, recommended, and featured on blogs and videos. It's the ultimate multi-purpose product: primer, setting spray, refresher, and eyeshadow instensifier (is that a word?). Given the mini size of the Fix+ I own, you can guess that I wasn't fully convinced before buying it that it was actually worth it. In fact, a $30 full size bottle of glamourized water is still ridiculous to me. BUT, I do now fully understand the hype and truly see this as a necessity. I always use this when my foundation feels/sees a bit too heavy on my skin. As to eyeshadow, it makes a huge difference with my shimmers, allowing a full-impact metallic look. Overall, the hype was real for me. (Plus, Sephora Canada online now carries Mac Cosmetics!)

Urban Decay Primer Potion. Another makeup pioneer, this time in terms of eyeshadow primer. Again, I have a mini size of this which is also probably my last. It's not a bad product by any means and I could see it benefiting others, however for me, it wasn't anything special. In fact, I didn't even wait to use it all up until I went back to priming my lids with concealer and powder. I'll be sticking to that instead of any primer, probably.
