Two Drugstore Gems: Brow Pencils.

Until recently, I've always used dark brown eyeliner as my brow pencil. This was possibly due to eyeliner pencils naturally having more product, but also because I felt overwhelmed by the plethora of brow options which was in itself, quite a novel concept to me. This is because I've only actually paid proper attention to my brows for only a few years, so I was still somewhat a novice. When my eyeliner finally ran out, however, I made it a point to get into the brow pencil realm so, I picked up two drugstore brow pencils try out.

Top to bottom: L'Oréal Brow Stylist Definer; L.A. Girl Shady Slim

L'Oréal Brow Stylist Definer. The first is the acclaimed drugstore equivalent/dupe to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz. I've never tried the latter and after trying this L'Oréal one, I don't feel compelled to. It has a fine nib, a spooli on the other side, and is retractable. The pigmentation is just perfect for natural brows, but easily fills in sparse areas and its lasting power is also great. I've heard complaints regarding the nib breaking easily, however, I have not had any issue with that. As long as you don't wind up the pencil too high, I don't think it will ever break. My shade is in "Dark Brunette" which is quite a cool-toned dark brown. It does resemble my natural brows quite well, but it may be a tiny bit too black-ish for them.

L.A Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil. This one is lesser known, but definitely not any less in quality. This has a near identical mechanism than the previous: thin nib, spooli, retractable, and also offers the exact same effect: fine strokes, great pigmentation, and excellent lasting power. My shade is "Brunette" which is a perfect match for my brows as it is a tad browner than the L'Oréal one. This is the reason why I actually prefer this pencil (and it's also a few dollars less than the L'Oréal one).

All in all, I've learned that a proper brow pencil is definitely a must-have, but also it's something that can easily be attainable at the drugstore. Here were two product recommendations that have hopefully added insight into your decision of which brow pencil to try! Let me know your "holy-grail" brow pencil!
