What Beauty Blogs & YouTube Made Me Buy.

We read beauty blogs and watch YouTube videos for entertainment as well as for solid advice and reviews on products that we may be interested in purchasing. So, it's only natural to be influenced by these blogs and videos to purchase products that have been continously raved about by the beauty community. It's how it works: we purchase makeup, we post reviews on them, then purchase makeup based off of others' reviews - it's a cycle, and why not embrace it. Personally, I'm quite picky when it comes to giving in to products and I only finally purchase something after I know for certain that I will enjoy it. Of course, sometimes the result is positive, but at other times can be dissapointing. Nonetheless, here a few makeup products that beauty blogs and YouTube channels compelled me to buy:

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette is like the modern Urban Decay Naked Palette in terms of its widespread attention and obsession. At first, it wasn't a palette that I really looked twice at given my aversion to warm tones, however, thanks to the plethora of reviews and looks online coupled with the positive reviews on the palette's quality, I really took my time to decide if I wanted to pass on it or not. Of course, I ended up buying it - and I'm glad I did. It's not an all warm palette, and the warm tones that are in it are something I would use. So, it's interesting how the beauty community made me discover a palette that I enjoy, but wouldn't otherwise have been compelled to buy it on my own. Full review on this palette here.

The L'OrĂ©al Lash Paradise Mascara took the beauty world by storm. At first I was reluctant, because 'how good could a mascara be?'. But I am so glad that I tried it out as ever since my first try, it's become the only mascara I ever used. I was (and still am) definitely one of those bloggers to rave about it over and over again, but it's seriously the best: thickening, volumnizing, lengthening, and it holds a curl like no other (particularly the waterproof version)! Full review here

I absolutely love blush and most of mine are powder products which work great for me, so I couldn't understand the hype around the Glossier Cloud Paints, but like the Glossier lover I am, I had to try it - and then I understood it. It does produce a very unique effect unlike powder blushes in that the liquid consistency allows for a diffused and almost watercolour effect on the cheeks that just makes your cheeks look flushed in the prettiest and most ethereal way. Full review here.

Of course, since the beginning of time, the MAC Cosmetics Lipsticks have always been a classic. That's why when I was first starting out in makeup, purchasing my first MAC lipstick was a goal. I remember feeling like it was almost a rite of passage into the makeup world. Now, I still do understand the quality of MAC lipsticks, however, they are not necessarily the best in the world  (the shade "Sin" is a bit dry and patchy as a matte lipstick) which is why I stopped at just one lipstick by the brand. Nonetheless, I am glad I own one and I do admire the quality and variety of their lipsticks.

Equally as famous and popular, the MAC Cosmetics Prep & Prime Fix+ Spray was one that took a long time for me to purchase. The idea of a setting spray sounded uneccessary to me (honestly, it still does), however, over time I really appreciated the concept of using a spray for the purpose of intensifying eyeshadows especially since I later discovered the lacking quality of most shimmer shadows. It really does make a difference and I also sometimes use it for my face if I feel that my foundation looks a bit dry or cakey. It's an interesting product, but definitely one to have in your collection.
