The fun in makeup is obviously the makeup products themselves, but you can't really enjoy makeup without the tools to actually use them. Surely, you may not necessarily need some beauty tools since you can always use your fingers for blending foundation or dabbing concealer, but sometimes it's undeniable that using a proper tool can be a life-changer and make an immense difference. Here are the beauty tools that have changed the makeup game for me, all of which will never have me looking back.
1. Eyelash Curler
Count yourself lucky if you can manage curled lashes with only a few swipes of mascara. For me, applying mascara actually weighs down my extremely straight and downward-turned eyelashes. I have very long and voluminous lashes, and it is precisely because of that that the eyelash curler has become my best friend. So, whenever I apply mascara, I let it dry for a few minutes and then curl my lashes (for about 50 times so they can stay up!). Personally, my goal is basically to make it appear that I have false lashes, and this method achieves just that. If you're not into that though, simply curling your lashes lightly for a couple of times can create a more natural curl, if you prefer. I highly recommend using this tool if you have stubborn lashes like mine!
2. Tweezers
The tweezers are actually dual-purpose for me. Firstly, I use it for the obvious reason: to pluck eyebrow hairs. Secondly, I also use them for my eyelashes, and no - not for plucking! I'm a perfectionist especially when it comes to eyelashes, so I use the tweezers to take a precise hold on my individual lashes in order to evenly distribute them to create a full and even fan effect. This trick has really made all the difference for me.
3. Eyebrow Scissors
I never really hear about these. Maybe it's because most people get their eyebrows done by professionals, but personally I do it on my own because that's the way I like it best. Here's a tip to prevent over-plucking your brows: whenever you have overly long eyebrow hairs, don't pluck them! Instead, cut them. That way, you're not eliminating any volume from your brows, rather you're just trimming them. I simply brush my brow hairs up (and then down) and snip the excess hairs.
4. Real Techniques Core Collection
Before I delved into using makeup brushes, I used to apply and blend my foundation and concealer with my fingers. Ever since I got this brush set, however, it was no looking back. I'm eager to try out more of their brushes, specifically for eyeshadow, but this collection is a great start and has the power to completely amp up your makeup game!
