My Go-To Autumn Makeup Look: Glowy Skin, Vampy Lips.

One of the reasons why autumn is my favourite season is the makeup styles that often accompanies autumn, that is, vampy lips, deep tones on the eyes, plum-toned blush, etc. Each year, however, I like to change things up by trying different variations of typical autumnal makeup, drawing from styles I've seen in editorials and makeup artists. This year, I've been noticing and loving the combination of dewy/highlighted skin with a bold vampy lip. Usually, I personally opt for matte skin finishes for the autumn and winter, but the juxtaposition of highlighted skin with the typical deep autumn lip is quite innovative and different and has now practically become my go-to autumn makeup look. Here's a spotlight on the products I've been loving to achieve this look:

Foundation. As I mentioned before, I usually go for matte skin during the autumn and winter months and I still do which is why instead of going for a dewy foundation, I prefer to highlight my skin with cream and powder highlighters. Thus, I still stick to my tried and true favourite matte foundation: the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation. A little goes a long way with this foundation which imparts a medium to full coverage with a matte (but slightly satin) finish. For me, I need to moisturize my skin a bit more than usual so it won't cling to my dry patches, but nonetheless, this has been my everyday foundation for this season.
Highlighter. As I mentioned, I prefer to achieve the dewy look via highlighter products. For this look, I like to first apply a cream highlighter, especially the Glossier Haloscope in "Quartz". I apply it on top of my cheekbones and even on my lids for a glossy lid look as my eyeshadow. I just love the unexpected factor that a cream highlighter gives to an autumn makeup look. (It's sold out, but check for similars below!) Full review on this highlighter here

For an extra tint of shine that also works as my blush, I like to add a powder highlighter that also works as a blush topper to attain a dewy blush look. For this, I use my favourite shimmery blush: Tanya Burr Cosmetics' "Peonies Please" Illuminating Blush. It gives off a very pretty baby pink flush that you can apply as a pinky highlighter or as a shimmery blush. Full review on this product here.

Lips. Now comes the obvious autumnal makeup element: the vampy lip. My current favourite deep lipstick for this season is the Too Faced "Stop Traffic" Peach Kiss Lipstick. It's a vampy red shade that has more of a brown rather than purple undertone that kind of makes it more of a neutral shade rather than too warm or cool. It's definitely a go-to of the season for me. 1. It’s interesting you say that! I find it has a slight yellow tone for me, but that may vary across the shades of course (I’m #110).
