A new season is just around the corner, meaning refreshing the wardrobe yet again. I've done the first of this "Style File" series for spring, and I really enjoyed it and I hope you'll gain some inspiration for this season as well. As always, I attempt to incorporate the current trends of the season into these outfit inspiration boards, along with an injection of my own personal style!
1. Denim is absolutely everywhere this year. In many forms: dresses, jeans, shorts, skirts. I love how the combination of a feminine dress with a classic, cool, and timeless material can create such a youthful look along with a hint of 90s nostalgia. Accessories can alter anything, so adding cute heeled sandals, retro sunglasses, and a striped purse, with a swipe of red lipstick to top it all off, steers the denim piece in a more 50s girly look, which I also love - a clash of the decades, if you will!
2. Again, another 90s-trend revival is embroidered mom jeans! These can become tacky real fast, but when it doesn't, it acts as such a novel and unique fashion item. It's important to keep it simple on the top due to the busy denim, so playing the colour theme of the embroidered pattern with a solid complimentary top is perfect. Add some neutral slip-on sandals, with similar-coloured sunglasses and handbag, creates a balance, while also tastefully showcasing the stunning statement piece.
3. Bardot tops! They're everywhere! I mean, everywhere. You can also call them "off-the-shoulder", but regardless, this style is definitely a true representation of summer. Pairing the top with classic denim cutoffs compliments the youthful flair to the ensemble, while the pointed laced up flats with the on-trend round glasses keep up with modernity.
4. I'll admit, culottes are a fashion piece that I had to warm up to. I feel that they can look best with pointed pumps and a basic and neutral fitted top. As seen in this outfit, classic aviators, a necktie, and a natural yet bold bag, creates the ultimate chic and empowering look.
