Purple Makeup: From Lavenders to Berry Tones.

You often see the typical berry tones come this time of year which I also participate in every time. Purples, plums, berries... however you like to describe this colour family, I absolutely love it and I especially feel the most enthusiastic to wear these shades during autumn. I feel that purples are the most universally flattering shade family especially as you can easily find a large variety of tones: cool purples like mauves and dusty lavenders on one side of the spectrum and rich warm berry tones on the others. As berries are especially appropriate for this time of year, I wanted to highlight some of my favourite purple toned makeup.

Eyeshadow. For those warm berry shades as well as the softer mauves, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow Palette is perfect. I usually bring out this palette during this time of year precisely for these autumnal shades as they are so beautiful on the eyes and are incredibly versatile. (Full review here.)
Another option that inclines more towards the soft and subtle effect is cream eyeshadows such as the Maybelline 24Hr Colour Tattoo in "Inked In Pink" that imparts a pretty wash of metallic rose gold with a hint of plum. It produces an almost wet effect with impact.

Lips. Lipsticks with an undertone of berry or purple is probably my most favourite type of lipstick shade. Without going full-on purple which can come off as unflattering, a berry-purple such as the L'OrĂ©al Le Matte Lipstick in "Matte-r of Fact" (see below for similar) is perfect as it gives off a stunning and richly pigmented (and long lasting!) finish of a deep magenta on the lips. Perfect for autumn!

Blush. Purple or lavender toned blushes are some of my favourites, my current favourite being the Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in "Pansy Pop" that is almost a straight-up lavender. As odd as it looks for a blush, it is super flattering since it gives off a very subtle light flush on the cheeks that makes your complexion appears fresher and more youthful. (Full review here.)
Another blush favourite that is more on the berry/plum side of purple is the Glossier Cloud Paint in "Haze". It's the kind of blush that you can easily control with the amount you use, plus when you blend it into the skin, it gives off a beautiful wash of colour and isn't harsh in terms of colour or texture.
