A little while ago, I wrote a post on my everyday, subtle festive makeup look that I've been wearing this past month. However, now that Christmas and holiday parties are around the corner, I thought it was time to showcase my full-on festive makeup routine. You may already be familiar with the typical Christmas makeup look of red lips, shimmery lids, and highlighted skin and while this edit doesn't necessarily deviate from that look, I hope this post will be helpful to you in regards to what products I love to achieve that look with.
For the eyes, I take this time of year as an opportunity for wearing glitter. While it may be intimidating or too much of a hassle to keep up with during a long event, it really does depend on what product you use. The Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow is perfect as it cleanly and easily applies the glitter with its wand; plus, since the consistency is liquid, there are no worries about fall-out or glitter glue. The shade "Kitten" is my favourite as it is a neutral-toned champagne shade that would really compliment any other colour combinations you are wearing on the face or your clothes. (Full review here.)
For the cheeks, glow and blush are something I cannot neglect. I like to add some freshness to the look which is why I love to use the Too Faced "Justify My Love" Blush (full review here) which imparts a pretty pink flush that looks as if you've just been out in the winter snow. For glow, I like to amp it up for this occasion, hence the Sleek "Solstice" Highlighting Palette (full review here) of which I love to especially use the champagne shade which is so bright, yet very flattering on the skin.
For lips, you've guessed it: a red lip, obviously. Of course it's not mandatory, but I personally love the festiveness of a beutiful red lipstick, especially the Too Faced "Lady Balls" Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick" which is a gorgeous velvet-y ruby red. Plus, as it's a liquid lipstick, it'll last long throughout the night! (Full review here.)
For nails, I like to push that red theme a bit further by opting for Essie "Russian Roulette" - the perfect true red. I also enjoy glittery or shimmery nail polish shades that are either nude or silver toned, but a red is also definitely a foolproof option!
