My Makeup Discoveries of 2018.

I feel that 2018 was a good year in makeup for me. Besides finally discovering my makeup style (I'll write a post on that soon!), I also enjoyed trying many new products for the first time and ending up loving them. This year, I ventured into trying out different application techniques and makeup textures and formulations such as a cushion foundation, liquid products, and even falling back in love with powder. Read below for some of my favourite new discoveries of the past year:

The cushion formula is really unlike any other consistency as it is so simple to apply and offers a beautiful seamless and natural finish and coverage. I would love to try other ones from different brands in the new year.

Liquid Eyeshadow. This was also the year where I tried liquid eyeshadow for the first time. Powder shadows are the obvious choice, and then creams are second popular, however, I feel that upon the release of the Stila Glitter [and Shimmer] & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows (review here), they really changed the game. Even though this product was released before 2018, this year was the first time I tried them and I fell in love. Both glitter and shimmer variations are stunning are so easy to apply; plus, they are super longlasting!

Liquid Lipstick. Another liquid formulation that I greatly enjoyed for the first time this year was liquid lipsticks. I'll admit, I still prefer the conventional lipstick, however, I have grown to appreciate the advantages of a good liquid lipstick in terms of their lasting power and the overall rich finish they give the lips. The Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick (review herewas especially excellent as it did not give me any tight or drying side effects; plus, the Too Faced Melted Latex Liquid Lipsticks were also a pleasant discovery for me in that they are not matte, yet still are of a liquid consistency. Overall, my view has definitely changed in terms of formula of lipsticks.

Powder. I have shamelessly raved about this powder non-stop for the past month, but I have to say this: the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (review here) was my favourite discovery of the year. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, my makeup style and aesthetic greatly changed this year and so I found myself, for the first time, chasing the dewy and glowy look. That was when I finally splurged on this powder which really gave me all I needed: a beautiful, natural, ethereal glow. I've used it everyday since!
